Dr. Duran is a family nurse practitioner that currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor for Florida International University’s graduate nursing program. She is also the president of Healthy Yields, a private telehealth company that provides coaching, consulting, and education on integrative, holistic self -care using a compassionate and mindful approach. She specializes in coaching people to care for themselves in a way that nurtures their body, mind, heart and spirit to promote overall well-being. She offers individual coaching, mindful eating for diabetes workshops, private workshops, presentations, and seminars on integrative self-care. She believes living a purposeful, balanced, joyful, and mindful life yields human resources to promote health, prevent disease, facilitate healing, reduce stress and build resilience. Dr. Duran completed her training as a family nurse practitioner in 2010 along with a post master’s degree in nursing education preparing her for dual roles in clinical practice and adult education. In 2017, she completed her doctorate degree in nursing practice with a focus on adherence to healthy eating patterns after a condensed diabetes self-management education and support intervention. She holds several certifications in coaching, diabetes education, advanced diabetes management, and diabetes technology. As a clinician she has experience in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Home Health Care, Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. As a clinician she acquired the prestigious American Diabetes Association (ADA) Education recognition accreditation for an outpatient diabetes education program. This recognition represents commitment to offering high quality evidenced based education to people with all forms of diabetes. Additionally, she was also promoted to clinical advisor to facilitate implementation of the patient centered medical home (PCMH) in her family medicine practice. Dr. Duran is devoted to providing high quality, evidenced based programs to her students and patient’s. She has earned a reputation among those she serves as a caring, competent, and a meticulous practitioner. |
