About Ellen:
Hello to my future students! I am a mindful eating coach, and I teach a skill – mindful eating. As a student, your responsibility will be to “practice, practice, practice” mindful eating skills every day! Besides assigned reading in Dr. Michele May’s award winning book, Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat, we will also use Dr. May’s workbook and awareness journal titled Eat Mindfully, Live Vibrantly! These materials are included in the cost of the workshop.
What will happen to you in the 8-session workshop? From the first session and the first mindful eating exercise you will notice how you eat. You’ll become aware of your thinking patterns, behavioral habits, and your physical well-being. Through our group discussions you will learn how to discern different levels of hunger and fullness, ways to handle cravings and binge eating, how to let go of guilt, and how to stop dieting and trust your inner wisdom! All of this is done through presenting Dr. May’s concept of “The Eating Cycle”. You will graduate with mindful eating practices that keep your sense of mind-body wants and needs wholesomely met in a variety of ways – including eating food that you love!
About me? I am happily “a woman of a certain age” who taught herself to mindfully eat in the late 1970’s. There was no program to teach me. I just came up with my own rendition of mindful eating to help me stay on a diet. Guess what? I learned I don’t need a diet! I have worked in the mental health field both professionally and as a volunteer for many years. There are many mindful eating approaches. I think Dr. May’s program is the most readily applicable and user friendly.
How do I work? I do mindful eating groups and individual sessions using the Am I Hungry? principles. I also do short presentations for free, weekly or 1- to 2-day workshops for your church, organization, or group of friends as well as corporate workshops and lunch and learns. The initial session for any service is free.
Where do I work? I do groups and individual sessions out of Dr. Pat Van Kley’s psychology office in Perrysburg, Ohio. Perrysburg is in Northwest Ohio and part of the greater Toledo area. Some other towns in Northwest Ohio include Bowling Green, Defiance, Bryan, Findley, Lima, Ada, Holland, Maumee, Perrysburg, Sylvania, Port Clinton, Oregon, Fostoria, North Baltimore, Napoleon, Fremont, Waterville, Wauseon, Northwood, Kenton, Point Place and Pemberville.
Also, Southeast Michigan and the greater Detroit area are close to my office or a phone call away. This area includes towns such as Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Monroe, Lambertville, Birmingham, Southfield, and Royal Oak, Adrian, Temperance, Dundee, Blissfield, Luna Pier, Milan, East Lansing and Temperance.
For groups, presentations, and workshops I am willing to consider travel to where you live. Individual sessions are in my office or by phone. If you want to keep updated about my groups and work, you can find me at this website, AmIHungry.net (click on facilitators at the bottom), or email me to be placed on my email list at mindfuleatingcoach@gmail.com. I look forward to meeting you! |

Diet Mind to Mindful Mind: Eating in the Real World
From 09/06/2012 to 10/25/2012
|
975 Commerce Drive; Perrysburg, OH 43551 |
Feelings of deficiency are right around the corner for many people when it comes to eating habits and weight management. This is understandable given the “diet-mind” culture we live in coupled with the massive selection of food choices all around us. How do people live in the real world and diet at the same time?
If this is your struggle, call Dr. Ellen Cullman about being in her Fall 2012 mindful eating workshop. Using the Am I Hungry? mindful eating skill development program, you will learn to let go of “diet-mind” and replace it with powerful mind-body awareness skills that teach you to intuitively select foods you want and love when you are hungry and let go of them when you are full. Over time and with the support of the group, your feelings of “diet-mind” deficiency will transform into mindful empowerment. You will find yourself navigating the sea of real world food choices and, at the same time, eating the food you really want and love.
Please call Dr. Cullman at 419-494-7699 to schedule a free introduction to this Fall 2012 mindful eating workshop titled Diet Mind to Mindful Mind: Eating in the Real World.
