About Joan:
Joan is both a Board Certified Registered Nurse and Masters prepared Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. She attended Marion
Hospital School of Nursing and Jane Addams School of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Joan's decision to pursue education in both clinical areas enhances her ability to approach patient care from both the medical and the family systems models. Joan's professional experience in the field of Behavioral Health has included administration of and direct service to inpatients and outpatients, program development and implementation as well as the organization of a utilization management department. Joan has been involved in both clinical and community education regarding the spectrum of eating disorders. She joined the team at Linden Oaks Hospital at Edward in 2007. This included responsibility for inpatient, partial hospital,residential and intensive outpatient levels of treatment.
After listening to multiple stories about how painful the dieting experience can be for some individuals, it was a joy for Joan to be introduced to Dr. Michelle May's "Am I Hungry?" program. Joan truly believes that the concept of instinctive eating provides the path that will bring both over-eaters and restrictive eaters back to a balanced state. Additionally, Joan has completed both the coursework for the Binge Eating program and the Bariatric Surgery program. At this time Joan will facilitate her groups at Linden Oaks at Edward in Naperville, Illinois. Naperville is a central location in Chicago's Western suburbs.
