About Sara:

My passion for Am I Hungry? and mindful eating comes from a personal place. I grew up watching my mom struggle with her weight, trying one extreme diet to another, always gaining the weight back, and sometimes more. Not wanting to go through what my mom went through, I tried to stay active, but as I entered my 20's, I found myself being less active and starting to gain a little weight. I focused on restricting what I ate and depriving myself of what I really wanted, so I wouldn't gain weight. Even though there were times when I would "allow" myself to eat the "bad" foods (fries, pizza, desserts, etc), I often felt guilty afterwards and knew that I would have to make up for it by exercising or restricting. As I got older, and once I had kids, I found that I restricted less, but mentally I still struggled. It wasn't until I found Am I Hungry? and went through the program and training, that I was able to let go and start enjoying my relationship with food. I don't look for perfection with what I eat, I look for balance, nutrition and enjoyment. I keep myself active by doing things I enjoy, and when I stop enjoying it, I problem solve or try something different.
I continue to have conversations with myself on a daily basis, but the conversations are more supportive and positive.

This is what I want for you.

It may not seem possible, but I know that you can get all the tools you need through Am I Hungry? You CAN have that freedom and peace of mind around eating. You CAN look at your relationship with food in a positive way. You CAN be as active as you want to be, feeling good and strong. As an Am I Hungry? Coach, I am here to empower you re-learn how to listen to your body, support you in the process and provide you accountability. You are not on this journey alone.

I primarily do one-on-one coaching, but I also love working with small groups, and working with individuals on mindful eating for families.

Just a little bit about my professional background:
As well as being an Am I Hungry? licensed facilitator, I am a licensed social worker and Certified Wellcoach. I worked as a social worker in various social service settings for over 12 years. For the past 10 years, I have been working as a Wellness Coach in various capacities. I currently work for a wellness company that provides medical care and wellness coaching for it's client's employees, as well as maintaining private clients, for whom I provide wellness coaching, Am I Hungry? coaching, and Am I Hungry? workshops and webinars.

Telephonic - anywhere in the U.S.

Mindful Eating Coaching is for those who have experienced Am I Hungry? in a workshop, retreat, or self-paced program and are looking for additional individualized support in putting all the Am I Hungry? tools into action. Coaching can take place as part of the Support Community packages or reaching out to me on your own. Via telephone, we will work together, on a weekly or biweekly basis. Starting where you are, we will work together to break down the Mindful Eating Cycle and focus on your needs. Through coaching we will be able to discuss specific situations or ongoing themes that may challenge you. We will reconnect with some of the Am I Hungry? tools that you may be able to apply in your life. Coaching availability is flexible.

Have you thought about attending one of the Am I Hungry? Workshops, but realize that you would prefer a more one-on-one experience? If so, private Mindful Eating coaching might bean option for you. You may have already read the book, Eat What You Love, or maybe you've just heard about the book, maybe you've even attended an Am I Hungry? workshop or retreat, but are looking for additional support. No matter where you are in your journey to eating more instinctively, one-on-one private coaching may help you reach your goal. For those who have not been through an Am I Hungry? workshop or retreat, we meet weekly for 8 weeks, just as we would in a workshop setting. Through individual coaching though, we are able to hone in on the specific issues that might be affecting you and your relationship with food. If you have some experience with the Am I Hungry? process, then we would tailor our coaching sessions to meet your needs. You are able to start your coaching program during a time frame that is convenient for you. Coaching may be done face-to-face, or via telephone, depending on your location and needs.
