About Lisa:

Like many of you, I was on some type of diet from the time I was very young. I still remember my first one in fourth grade - I took boiled eggs in my lunch box! I tried all the fad diets, from cabbage soup to SlimFast, and even diet pills prescribed by my doctor through my teens and into my 20s. I finally gave up dieting about 33 years ago during the heyday of the Low Fat craze when I decided I wanted to eat the foods I loved, instead of a bunch of bad-tasting, chemical-laden substitutes.

Since 1996, I’ve created a private practice around helping women with their wellness. I call my philosophy, Wellness Without Rules™, and it’s about learning to trust that you have the answers about what is best for you, along with embracing self-compassion on the journey of growth. My mantra for many years has been “Practice IS Progress.”

I hold a degree in Exercise Physiology and I am a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC). I’ve been working with the Am I Hungry? Programs since 2008 as a Licensed Facilitator and a Certified Mindful Eating Coach.

Though I live in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States, I work with clients in all time zones and corners of the world. Our coaching sessions are conducted over the phone and I offer appointments as early as 6:00 AM, Eastern time, so you can do your coaching before the work day begins. I book coaching appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and I currently have a few slots open.

Other stuff about me:

My grown son, Dillon (age 33), still calls me Mom, and has bestowed upon me the loftier titles of "Friend" and "Confidante." I live with my second husband, Michael, our son, Mason (age 12), dog, Sadie, and two cats, Vladimir and Matzo, on a little piece of heaven in rural Kentucky I call Avodah Farms.

I am a novice weaver and knitter, and I’m working hard to become fluent in French! I love to read mysteries, drink freshly-ground French Roast coffee, ride motorcycles, work on home renovation projects, grow my own vegetables, eat authentic Mexican food (Well, okay, ANY Mexican food…and drink Margaritas, of course), sip a good Cabernet, spend time out in nature, watch HGTV, keep up with modern pop music, and eat dark chocolate. I’m passionate about preserving historic architecture, and about leaving a small carbon footprint. Oh, and I’m an Enneagram Type One.

A big part of my life's purpose is working with women to help them discover all that their lives have to offer them and the ones they love. One of the most rewarding things in life for me is to hold the space for a woman to experience an epiphany or insight that allows her to see things from a different perspective, so she can be happy and live her own life, instead of the one that others expect.

Are you ready to give up dieting for good? I’d be honored to support you as you heal your relationship with food and begin to trust your body’s wisdom again through one-on-one Mindful Eating Coaching, using the life-changing principles of the Am I Hungry? program. All of my coaching is done over the phone, so I am able to connect with you, regardless of where you live and in what time zone (I'm in Kentucky in the Eastern Time Zone). If I'm the right fit for you, we can work together. I book appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and I offer sessions as early as 6:00 AM Eastern. My name is Lisa Capehart and I’m a Self-Care Coach for Women who specializes in Mindful & Intuitive Eating. I use the Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating Program to help you heal your relationship with food and emotional eating. For many women, dieting has been a way of life, so learning to trust your body’s wisdom instead of the restrictions and rules of those “experts” can be a bit scary. Yet, I have found in doing this work for many years with women like you, that self-love and self-trust are the keys to make peace with food, and to finding your most authentic self along the way. Though it may seem a little counter-intuitive, autumn (Not January 1!) is the perfect time to choose to embark upon a journey of self-care and get in charge of your eating, so that you can sail through the Holiday party season, into the New Year, and beyond. The Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating Program is an 8-week workshop that will meet at Return To Balance Wellness Center (Maysville, KY 41056) on Tuesdays at 1:00 PM for approximately 60-75 minutes, beginning Tuesday, September 26 and ending on November 14. We’ll cover the physical aspects of eating, like hunger & fullness, and the myth of “good” foods & “bad” foods. And for many, more importantly, we’ll address how to handle emotional eating and learn to meet your true needs with something other than food. The cost of this workshop includes your materials (Eat What you Love, Love What you Eat: How to Break Your Eat-Repent-Repeat Cycle book and accompanying workbook), unlimited email contact with me, along with access to a Secret Facebook group just for our class, where you can find support between classes.
